Prompt History
Never lose a prompt again
Every prompt you send is saved automatically. Close the terminal, switch machines, come back a month later—it's still there.
Better than terminal history
Terminal history is fragile. Prompt Cellar is permanent.
Survives closed terminals
Prompts are saved in real-time as you send them. Close your terminal, restart your machine, switch to a different computer. Your prompts are already safe.
Full text, not just commands
Terminal history saves command lines. Prompt Cellar saves the full prompt text, including multi-line instructions and detailed context you wrote for the AI.
Searchable & filterable
Don't scroll through thousands of lines. Search by keyword, filter by project or date, and find the exact prompt you need in seconds.
Your prompts, everywhere
One account. Every machine. Complete history.
Multi-machine sync
Install the CLI on your work laptop and home machine. All prompts appear in one timeline regardless of where they were sent.
Unlimited retention
Paid plans keep your prompts forever. Build a library over months and years. The longer you use it, the more valuable it gets.
Archive, don't delete
Old prompts cluttering your view? Archive them. They're hidden from the timeline but still searchable and restorable if you need them later.
Project context preserved
Each prompt remembers which repo, branch, and directory it was used in. Navigate your history by project, not just by date.
Frequently asked questions
How far back does prompt history go?
Free accounts retain 30 days of prompt history. Paid plans have unlimited retention, so your history can go back months or years. Every prompt is saved from the moment you install the CLI hook.
Can I recover a prompt I sent last week?
Yes, as long as you had Prompt Cellar installed when you sent it. Every captured prompt is stored permanently (within your plan's retention period). Search by keyword or browse the timeline to find it.
Is prompt history different from terminal history?
Yes. Terminal history only saves commands, gets overwritten across sessions, and is lost when you close the terminal. Prompt Cellar saves full prompt text with project context, is persistent across sessions, and is searchable.
What if I accidentally close my terminal?
Your prompts are already saved. Prompt Cellar captures prompts in real-time as you send them, not when the session ends. Closing the terminal doesn't lose any data.
Can I delete specific prompts from my history?
Yes. You can archive or delete individual prompts. Archived prompts are hidden from the main timeline but can be restored. Deleted prompts are permanently removed.
Does prompt history work across multiple machines?
Yes. Install the CLI hook on each machine and log in with the same account. All your prompts from all machines appear in one unified timeline.
