Sound familiar?

You craft the perfect prompt. It works beautifully. Then you close the terminal.

You scroll through terminal history, but it's already gone.

You rewrite it from memory. It's never quite as good.

How it works

1

Install the CLI hook

One command connects Prompt Cellar to Claude Code, Codex, or Gemini.

2

Use AI like you always do

Every prompt is captured and encrypted before it leaves your machine. You change nothing about your workflow.

3

Find any prompt, instantly

Browse by session, search by keyword, filter by project. One click to copy.

Built for how you actually work

Session Timeline

Your prompts organized by coding session, project, and directory. Not a flat list—a timeline that mirrors how you actually work.

Encrypted Search

Search across every prompt you've ever written. The search index is encrypted client-side—we can't read your queries or your prompts.

One-Click Copy

Found the prompt you need? One click. It's on your clipboard. No modals, no friction.

Zero-Knowledge Encryption

Your prompts are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they leave your browser. We literally cannot read them. Your key never touches our servers.

Built for paranoia

Your prompts contain your ideas, your code, your thinking. We designed Prompt Cellar so that even we can't see them.

Zero-knowledge architecture

AES-256-GCM encryption. Your master key is derived in your browser and never transmitted.

No analytics on your content

We see metadata: timestamps, prompt counts, session IDs. Never your actual prompts.

Free tier, no credit card

Frequently asked questions

What is Prompt Cellar?

Prompt Cellar is a tool that automatically captures every prompt you send to AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. It encrypts your prompts client-side and makes them searchable so you never lose a working prompt.

How does Prompt Cellar capture prompts?

It uses CLI hooks and shell wrappers that intercept prompts as you send them. For Claude Code, it uses the built-in hooks system. For Codex and Gemini CLI, it uses lightweight shell wrappers. You install once and your workflow stays the same.

Is Prompt Cellar secure?

Yes. Your prompts are encrypted with AES-256-GCM in your browser before they reach our servers. Your encryption key is derived locally and never transmitted. We cannot read your prompts. This is called zero-knowledge encryption.

Which AI tools does Prompt Cellar support?

Claude Code (Anthropic), Codex CLI (OpenAI), and Gemini CLI (Google). These are the three major AI coding assistants that run in your terminal.

How much does Prompt Cellar cost?

There's a free tier with 100 prompts and 30 days retention. Paid plans start at $5/month for 1,000 prompts, $20/month for 10,000 prompts, and $50/month for 100,000 prompts. All paid plans include unlimited retention.

Can Prompt Cellar read my prompts?

No. Your encryption key is derived in your browser and never leaves your machine. The server only stores encrypted blobs it cannot decrypt. Even with full database access, your prompts are unreadable.

How do I search my prompt history?

Prompt Cellar builds an encrypted search index client-side. When you search, your browser decrypts the index locally, matches your query, then fetches and decrypts the matching prompts. The server never sees your search terms.

Does Prompt Cellar work with ChatGPT or Claude.ai?

No. Prompt Cellar is built for terminal-based AI tools: Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. Web-based chat interfaces don't expose hooks for prompt capture.
