It uses CLI hooks and shell wrappers that intercept prompts as you send them. For Claude Code, it uses the built-in hooks system. For Codex and Gemini CLI, it uses lightweight shell wrappers. You install once and your workflow stays the same.
Is Prompt Cellar secure?
Yes. Your prompts are encrypted with AES-256-GCM in your browser before they reach our servers. Your encryption key is derived locally and never transmitted. We cannot read your prompts. This is called zero-knowledge encryption.

No. Your encryption key is derived in your browser and never leaves your machine. The server only stores encrypted blobs it cannot decrypt. Even with full database access, your prompts are unreadable.
How do I search my prompt history?
Prompt Cellar builds an encrypted search index client-side. When you search, your browser decrypts the index locally, matches your query, then fetches and decrypts the matching prompts. The server never sees your search terms.
Does Prompt Cellar work with ChatGPT or Claude.ai?
No. Prompt Cellar is built for terminal-based AI tools: Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. Web-based chat interfaces don't expose hooks for prompt capture.
